BOTOX
SYN. BOTOX, BOTULINUM, BOTULINUM TOXIN, BOTULINUM PRODUCT,
BOTULINUM TOXIN TYPE A
Preparing for surgery
Description of procedure
No anaesthesia
Length: 10 – 15 min.
Discharge from clinic: the day of procedure.
Botox can eliminate fine lines without surgery and actually with no pain. Fine lines most often occur at the age of 25
to 30, between the nose and the mouth, at the outside corner of the eye (crow's feet) and on the forehead (horizontal and vertical lines including the middle forehead crease). The product is injected through a fine needle directly into
the area around the muscle. Botulinum blocks neuromuscular transmission thereby preventing muscle contractions
and smoothing fine lines.
The procedure can be done alone or combined with other procedures e.g. facelift. It is particularly recommended
for young people who are expressive with their facial movements.
Recovery
- There may occur: slight redness or bruising at the site of injection.
- Possible complications: insufficient or excess muscle relaxation, asymmetry.
Duration of results
The result lasts for 6 – 10 months. After that time repeat surgery is needed.
Frequently asked questions
I had Botox the day before yesterday. Not all of the wrinkles mentioned by the surgeon have been eliminated. Will I have to repeat the procedure?
You do need to be concerned. After the surgery the wrinkles are disappearing gradually over the period between two days and two weeks. If the result is not satisfactory after two weeks, then you should contact with your surgeon who will certainly inject more botulinum.
